Jobjab cartoons
Posted by Gabe Topete on January 14, 2009 at 7:30 pmJust a quick questions, are jibjabs cartoons made in flash or after effects? or something else?
I want to make some cartoons and deciding which app to go with.

January 14, 2009 at 7:38 pmThe last I checked they were using Flash, although a year or so ago I know they were investigating After Effects.
Personally I would go with After Effects unless the Flash Delivery is of supreme importance to you. You should be able to achieve a look that is indistinguishable from their Flash output, and the animation controls in AE are much more robust.

January 14, 2009 at 9:52 pmthe picture looks just like him… but i haven’t seen the sears guy…
_______another benefit to ae… if you have a voice track that you want to sync the mouth movement to, you can use expressions to drive the mouth based on the voice track levels. if you search the ae expressions forum, i remember a post about 6 months ago regarding something very similar.
also motionscript.com has some useful expressions for character animations like inverse kinematics and triggering animations with layer markers.
and if i remember correctly, mr. maffitt also has some tutorials on character animations on one of his total training for after effects dvds.

January 14, 2009 at 9:55 pmHm, what is “real”? Is Sears “real”? It’s where America shops, or so I hear.
But yes, it’s me. I did some consulting work for JibJab a while back.

January 14, 2009 at 10:54 pmWord on the street was Ko Maruyama swept into power in bloodless a coup had you exiled to the paint department at Home Depot in Santa Barbara where you were heard to mumble, “Colorama could take care of that for you!”

Like most coups, Ko is rarely bloodless.
