I’m using Premiere Pro with the Canopus DV Storm card on a Dell Dimension XPS system running 2 gigs of ram. I having more and more problems with the record monitor going black after rendering video. I get the “dropped frames” message, sound will play sometimes but I always have to shut down the application restart. When I do that the time line plays for a while. Most of the time i only have at the most 4-5 layers of video with interspersed efx. I’ve just reloaded the latest drivers from Canopus. Any thoughts? are there some settings I dont have “set right” I’m editing DV, usually wide screen.

Is this a new problem or a pre-existing one? What are your project settings? If you are using the Canopus settings, try using the default PPRO ones to see if the problem can be fixed. Also, turn off any background processes to see if that helps. What kind of files are you editing? MPEG or AVI?
