JL Cooper Eclipse
Posted by Ola Haldor voll on March 4, 2011 at 3:56 pmSo I just heard something I got a little worried about. Is it true that the older version of the Eclipse don’t have reset buttons for the rotary knobs? I heard this was a feature added in the new Midnight version of the panel.
Can anyone comment on this?

March 4, 2011 at 4:57 pmFor future questions about this, I’ll just post the solution.
I found out of it. From the product shots of either version of the panel, the reset buttons for the rotary knobs seem to be hidden behind.. the rotary knobs… So I never knew about that until I just placed my order for the grey version.
Hopefully I won’t miss them too much. The Resolve Menus and Controls document for JL Cooper doesn’t even mention them, so I guess they’re not even mapped.

March 6, 2011 at 1:17 amI think both the grey and black versions of eclipse have the rotary knob reset buttons now.
we have the 1st generation eclipse which does not have the dedicated knob reset buttons, BUT the ball/ring reset buttons reset the rotary knobs when used with the shift button – took me about 2 seconds to get used to and work great (there are 6 of them so it works out).https://www.postandbeam.tv

March 18, 2011 at 9:38 amI tried doing this. For instance SHIFT+R1 to reset the GAIN rotary knob. Nothing happens. Nor does anything happen in any other of the pages if I hit SHIFT+R1/B1.
I have the grey 1st gen. without reset buttons for rotary knobs obviously.

March 18, 2011 at 2:21 pmwell that sucks. bmd will have to add that to davinci software then for it to work which they might not be too bothered about – probably not too high on their list.
i actually asked jlcooper if the reset buttons could be added to our eclipse and no go.https://www.postandbeam.tv

March 18, 2011 at 6:24 pmI wouldn’t mind having “reset rotary knob” with the SHIFT+R1/B1. If it’s possible to do, I don’t know.

April 12, 2011 at 2:30 pmFurther on this, the reset buttons are contextual on the Eclipse Midnight, so they reset whatever page you’re on, saturation, zoom, red lift etc…
These encoders though, seem to have only one speed, which makes them a bit twitchy, hopefully that will be looked at…the sensitivity settings seem to only apply to the tracks balls and rings…

April 12, 2011 at 5:44 pmI don’t think that’s true. Either I’m on drugs, or I have dreamed. Hopefully I’m none of those. I believe I have adjusted some setting which made the rotary knobs more sensitive.

April 14, 2011 at 8:40 amI’ve just tried multiple combinations, my Trackballs and ring’s sensitivities can be altered, but not the top row of of 6 knobs…grrr
