Hi. I’m running Avid MC 2.7 on a Mac Pro, and I’m trying to do what I once could on Xpress Pro — bring in a graphic intro from AE. It includes a simple title. It renders cleanly from AE. It plays back in Quicktime beautifully. But I have tried lower and upper field, and progressive renders, and modified my import settings accordingly, but these titles staircase so bad that I’m embarrassed to show them to my client.

I’m building them in 640X480, and I’ve tried Animation, H.264, Avid DV, and Avid DNxHD Codecs. I have yet to import these titles in a way that looks professional. It seems like such a basic. Are you able to help?

not to confuse the issue but 720X540 with a square pixel import works too.
My point is it’s just better to start with a full sized render.

Hi Grinner. Boy these settings haven’t changed anything! I wonder if I can send you a sample of the import. This is due tomorrow, so I’m thinking of using Avid Marquee, and giving up some of the glamour to make this happen…

you are welcome to send me something and I’ll be glad to do some troubleshootin’.

Grinner, I do have the inport settings set to DV25. What should I change them to?

    try 1:1
basicly avid is compressing that file at dv25 as it is right now. Thats not only a 5:1 compression but a 4:1:1 color space as well. No good for grafix.
