I’ve been using Vegas 7 with images recorded HQ widescreen on a Sony Handycam SR80E. No problem when played back direct to TV or when the mpeg files are played on the PC. Rendered images are generally good quality, but the motion caused by panning the camera results in a jittery image after rendering (both on PC and on DVD/TV).

I’ve read other threads and experimented with increasing the bitrate to the maximum (9.8m). It seems to have little or no effect. Any advice would be welcome.

Many thanks for your help – it did show a little improvement. Obviously, I hadn’t given you all the information you would have needed, and it turned out that the solution lay elsewhere.

The default setting at Project level was for “upper field first”. The default setting for rendering was “interlaced, bottom field first”. Setting this one to “upper” solved the problem. I should have checked much more carefully.

    Thanks again.
