Jitters (artifacting) when exporting from FCP to DVDSP
OK, here’s the deal. I am trying to export a FCP sequence to DVDSP. I have exported using Quicktime Movie using current settings, I have exported using Quicktime Conversion using a number of different settings, and I have exported to Compressor using Best Quality 90 min MPEG 2, all with the same result. There are 2 specific shots that have “Jitters” in them. Not sure if it is an interlacing issue, a compression issue or my own ignorance. In FCp, the sequence looks awesome. It was shot in HDV and I am looking to export it to DVD (SD). This seems like it should be something simple, but so far it has left me feeling like a 5 year old wanting to throw a temper tantrum! Any and all advice (besides not acting like a 5 year old…I know better! ;P ) would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Steve,
You movie can look great in your Mac even having interlacing problems. The only way you can make sure that there is not such problem is with an interlaced monitor or TV set.

Is there anything different about the way the two scenes were shot? BTW, specifically, what flavor of HDV was recorded?

The footage is HDV 1080i shot on a Cannon mini HDV (I think it’s an XLHA 1). All of the footage was shot on the same cam, within the same 24 hours, and on the same tape! As far as I know, the settings on the cam never changed with the exception of white balance. They have some motion in them (pan left to right) but we have other shots in the spot that have just as much motion in them if not more! Very frustrating.
