Jitteriness Footage Canon 7d
Hey all,
Having a slight issue in post for a feature. Film was shot on Canon 7d 24p frame rate. We have edited in 23.97 fps. I have noticed on a few of the slow panning shots a jitteriness- almost like it gets stuck on a frame then continues. I thought maybe it was something that could be corrected with the Foundry’s Rolling Shutter plugin for AE but so far it hasn’t removed the jitteriness.
I have tried editing the problematic shots in 24 fps but that doesn’t seem to do much either.
Any suggestions?

Oh forgot to mention that we converted the footage to Apple Pro Res 422 HQ to make it friendlier in Final Cut pro. So I know its not h264 thats slowing it down.

Unless you are going to 35mm film I would not use 24fps Cinema Speed ????? Personal preference, it will not make the video look any better.But, we are PAL at 25 fps, there is little to be gained, we have been using H.264 mov at 1920x 1080p for 3 years with travel docs and no problems in a PC to Anamorphic 1440 x 1080 i Pro tape or Blu-Ray.
Rolling shutter should not be an issue if an IS EF lens on a 5D Mark II is used, but, we use MercalIi V2 Pro Stabilizer Plug-In on a PC i7 64 bit Quad-Core using Premiere Pro CS5.5.2, but , horizontal panning must be slow and smooth.
Check your clip shutter speed, should be 1/50 sec or slower in Canon’s Zoom Browser EX V 6.7.2.33
Do not change the editing speed, for film it must be 24 fps.
