    Hi

I really need some help reg Video editing using CS4. I am using a Sony PMW EX1 video camera with SXS Memory cards to store the video clips. I could grab and drop the clips to Sequence window without any problem. But when u play on monitor or on time line, I get jerky video for few seconds and freeze the video while playing audio without a problem. No jerky or any interruptions observed in Audio what so ever. only on video having problem. I have set the recorded and set the CS4 for HQ 1080i and 25fps.

I am using Dell Dimension 8400 / 2.8GHz Proce, 2GB DDR2 RAM and closer 1 TB HDD space with 512RAM Video card. Is this configuration is not so good to run CS4?? or Can anyone there suggest a good Dell system run the CS4 Master Collection without any problem??

This problem happens even on Premiere Pro 1.5.

Any experts can help me on this to get it going?? Ur help is much appreciated.

It appears your system maybe a little older. Is it at least a core 2 duo? Quad core would be best. 2gig of ram bare minimum 4gig would be better.

Have u tried to set the playback quality to draft? Does it help?

The media files should be on a seperate drive to the os. Preferably a 7200rpm at least, but a raid 0 or 5 is recommended.

I agree with Jon. You need a faster machine. Look into a Core 2 Quad, or i7. With lots of RAM.

I recently got jerky video syndrome with PPro4 even on a newly configured Core i7 950 with 12Gb RAM. (9600GT NVidia card)

I cured it by turning off all the little display enhancements in Windows 7 (softening, dissolves etc) and have not any had problems since.

Thx Andy, I have sorted out my problem now…
Sorry I am running on XP and not Win7. It’s a older maching..and thinking of upgrading my machine..
Though it was jerky on monitor, when I exported to DVD, it has played ok…I think it was due lower proc. speed and Low Mem capacity..I presume…All good now. Thx fr uu advice. Much appreciated..
