I’m not sure if this post might be more appropriate in Premiere CS3, or Soronson Squeeze, but I’ll start here. Moderators: Please move to the appropriate area. Thanks.

PS Sorry for the lengthy post.

    – I’ve done an animated clip in AE that uses all vector-based art. The clip looks great as a RAM preview as well as the final QT Comp using the Animation codec (what Aharon recommends I think). The project pre-set is for widescreen 1.2.

    – When I bring the AE Comp (QT) into Premiere Pro for the final audio edits, this is where things start to fall apart. I will make final edits, and again export the project out to QT using the Animation codec. Again, the file looks really good in QT with no real issues. (However, a side-by-side compare to the AE output shows the images *slightly* softer with less contrast, but it’s really splitting hairs at this point).

    – For the final step, I bring the Premiere-generated QT into Squeeze to generate some web-sized files in QT, WMV, Flash. The issue I’m running into is that there is bad stair-stepping on most all of the graphics, especially those whose edges run at an angle on screen. This also holds true from Squeeze files made directly from the AE rendered QT comps.

    – If I go back into the Premiere timeline and change the “Field Options” to “Remove Flicker”, that seems to take care of the problem in the end, but at a cost of noticeable overall softness. However, since the images are much smaller on the web, it’s probably acceptable. Also, “Frame Blending” is ON (I think by default).

    – I’ve tried the other “Field Options” with interlacing, interlace, etc, but the Remove Flicker seems to look the best in the end. I’ve also purchased Aharon’s “Internet Killed the Video Star” video but didn’t see anything having to do with interlace issues (although admittedly I might have dosed off at that point).

Is there any hope for better (sharper) output for web when dealing with vector objects and AE?

Thanks for any tips to try… I think it’s maybe a compression issue I’m having as I think about it and the “Remove Flicker” is a work-around fix, but perhaps not the proper fix.
