  • Jagged edges on background wall during AVID Speed changes–please help

Posted by Scotty Pupkin on April 22, 2005 at 2:55 am

    Hi

I’m editing a commercial and ran into a problem. I increased the speed of a man dancing in his living room and the background wall–mainly on the edges and the “whites”–has a jagged edge to it–ONLY during the speed-ups at like 58 FPS… the jagged edges are sort of comparable to the edges on low res type…Does anyone know why this is? The footage is at 1:1 and I’m using an Avid Meridian Composer…

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    thanks

You have a few options as to how Avid handles frames. I believe it defaults to “Duplicated frames”. I usually use “Interpolate frames”, but you should experiment with a few of the settings and see if that helps your problem.

If you have the option, promote the clip to Fluid Motion. It looks beautiful.
