Issues importing 3D data from C4D to Ae
Hi guys, technical question here, I’m having issues bringing 3d data from C4D to Ae.
Basically I have a line of 10 digital poster screens panning across the camera that I’ve created in C4D which I’d like to ad portrait animations too in Ae. Each Screen has a null child centered to it with an external compositing tag. When I import the Aec into Ae (I have “include 3d data” checked in render settings), all my screen nulls turn up however when I opt drag my portrait animation over the null or parent it to the null, the animation doesn’t sit properly in place over the screen and slowly drifts off, requiring constant keyframes to bring it back into position. I have baked my camera (all parameters), even baked the null moving all the digital poster screens. Strangely enough, while the nulls in Ae have positional data keyframed with changing values, the rotation is also keyframed in xyz but each keyframe is zero. Am I wrong to assume that once I have the animation positioned correctly over the digital poster screen the 3d data should take care of the rest and maintain it’s correct location as it moves in 3d space?
I have tried putting the external compositing tag on the screen itself, on a small object child of the screen as well as the null first mentioned. I’ve tried motion tracking the digital screens in Ae also to no avail, it doesn’t look right without the correct 3d data. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
