Issue with the display of a map in a DV sequence
I’m editing a lecture [shot on DV] and am having a problem with inserting a map into my DV sequence. The map I am using was saved as an anti-aliased JPEG. It looks great in Photoshop and looks razor sharp in the Viewer of FCP, but, when I insert about 15 seconds of it into my sequence, it looks terrible: jaggy, blurry, the words hardly legible. I’ve made sure to render the map clip in the sequence, but it still looks awful. I thought the problem might have something to do with dimensions of the map [the original size was 1686×988], so I reduced the image size down to 720×422 in Photoshop. That didn’t help. Could the problem have something to do with how the DV codec handles detailed graphic material? Any suggestions on how to make the map appear razor sharp in my DV sequence?
thanks,
