  • Issue with re-sampling not being disabled

Posted by Jason Dee on July 28, 2011 at 11:17 pm

I’m editing a couple of dvd videos, the source is a mpeg2 vob file. My project is also set to 29.97. Only odd thing I’m doing is changing the speed of the clips and putting a full screen video into a widescreen box, I’ve tried without changing speeds and using a fullscreen box and I still have the issue below.

So now my issue is i’m editing the clips and i have already right clicked all the video clips, and chose disable resampling.
but when i look at my preview which is set to best, i can see some frame blending/ghosting which I believe is resampling. when i change to preview the resampling is gone.

Here is a couple of screenshots: https://img30.imageshack.us/img30/8792/vegast.jpg
Top picture preview set to Preview Auto.
Bottom picture preview set to Best Auto.
You can see ghosting on bottom, I have right clicked clip and confirmed disable resample is checked. How can I fix this??

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

    JD!

I would try and view the video in a media player frame by frame. What you are seeing might just be camera blur that is part of the recorded frame. The other thing it could be is telecine. If the movie was originally 24p it would have been telecined to 29.97 when authored for DVD. So the frame might already have this blending in it. That’s why I suggest viewing in a media player to be sure.

Thanks for replying John! Did you get a chance to look at the screenshot I posted? It’s at the same frame and the blending only shows when the preview is set to good or best. So if the frame already had the blur as you suggested, wouldn’t it be shown when in preview auto mode as well?

Not necessarily. Preview mode takes a few short cuts in not displaying all the details which is how it gets faster frame rates. I’ve seen the same frame jump dramatically going from preview to good or best. It still could be frame blending in Vegas. I just think you should check the frame in another application first to be sure.

Do you see ghosting in Best (Full) mode?
    And what’s your deinterlace option?
