August 8, 2017 at 4:30 pmTo the OP Susie Garratt,
I have used Geek Uninstaller (Free program and works with x64 systems). When you use Geek uninstaller it runs the programs “normal” uninstaller and then it runs a special process afterwords to search for any left-over files. I stopped using Revo a year ago since it did not fully support x64 programs and their removal.
The best practice I found when installing Any program is to use Uninstall Tool (Paid for program) that will “watch” all changes to your system and when the time comes to remove it, it will also make sure that any left-overs are removed properly as well.
Hopefully you can remove all of the K-Lite Codec Packs files it installed on your system.

August 8, 2017 at 5:05 pmThe K-Lite uninstaller works properly. It doesn’t leave anything behind.
You should never let third party uninstallers remove things unless you can manually verify and approve all of its actions. Otherwise you are pretty much guaranteed that they will eventually mess up your system.

August 8, 2017 at 5:14 pmIt is certainly possible that ancient versions of Vegas were prone to breaking if they used third party codecs. But that is more the fault of Vegas than of those codecs. It is pretty easy for an application to override system codec merits to prefer (its own) specific codecs above others.
Codec Tweak Tool is a great utility for dealing with codecs. It can generate a detailed list of all installed codecs. It also allows to enable/disable codecs very easily, which makes it ideal for troubleshooting.

August 9, 2017 at 6:19 pmFirst of all, thank you to everyone who posted for your help and advice. It it much appreciated. Sorry I’ve taken so long to reply. In the end I had been fed up of my issues and had been ready to give up but discovered that a file I had recorded with a different software actually worked. That software wasn’t very practical for my use, but I downloaded a different version of the software I had been using (OBS > OBS Studio) and that seems to have resolved my issue. On a side-note, at some point in time me and a friend had been messing with various settings in OBS for streaming though I do not remember if this happened before or after the Sony Vegas error. We did attempt to change the settings back before I installed OBS Studio, but it did not resolve anything. Thankfully this is all over and I can go back to editing videos; case closed!

August 9, 2017 at 7:42 pmGlad to hear that it’s working now.
I just wonder what codec is currently selected in OBS Studio for audio streaming.
Could you please check `Settings > Encoding > Audio encoding > Codec` ?
Thanks.
