  Issue with AFX render farm and Avid Unity

  Ok, so I’m pulling my freakin’ hair out right now…

  We have a 32TB Avid Unity on fiber to our editing machines…

  Then, in the same rack with the unity are 2 Aftereffects render nodes using mac x-servs on ethernet.

  If I “collect files” into a folder on the Unity… we end up crashing the render nodes every time they access the same asset at the same time.

  So, I collected the files to the local drives on each x-serv (now they each have a copy of the project) and just have them rendering to the unity.

  Still, same same… we end up crashing one of the two render nodes constantly.

  In another post, I’m hoping to set up a cron job to monitor the renders to see if they crash, and if so to restart the nodes.

  This is pretty janky though, and I was hoping to just fix the problem. Any ideas?
