Issue with a shadow effect
Here’s an example of what I’ve got:
Here’s what I’m trying to do:
The spot light is just off to the side of the comp in front of the camera, the red and blue are rotating spotlights that have been placed behind the camera. What I’m trying to do now is have a shadow of a cop car to the lower right portion that is only created with shadows from the red and blue lights, but not the spot light up front.
I tried making a mask from a solid layer and turned on cast shadows. to prevent it from actually being seen, I found I have to put the layer behind the camera but in front of the lights. When I’m in active camera mode, the layer casts no shadows. I also tried selecting cast shadows only and putting the layer in front of the camera, but nothing happens. Lastly, I notice the first tactic does work when I set active camera to front view, but this doesn’t help me when It’s time to render. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I forgot to do in order to accomplish this simple effect?
