Issue Organising clips inside the browser
Hi guys,
Im having a really annoying issue inside final cut pro 3 that probably has a really obvious solution but i cannot for the life of me figure out whats going on.
Ive just captured in about 22 tapes worth of PAL HDV 108050i footage for a feature film project.
Obviously i want to organize all the clips so ive made a bin for every scene in the film.
Ive then dragged all those bins containing clips into another bin called ‘footage’.
But when i twirl down some of the bins, not all the clips are showing inside the folder, only the clips starting from the letter A to M for eg show up. I have the “name” column at the top of the inspector set up to organize my clips alphabetically, when i click it a second time the reverse happens, i have all my clips starting from the letters Z to around about M again only show up.
What in the hell is happening? The bin structure inside the Footage Bin is fine all the bins are called “Scene 01 – name of Scene”, Scene 02 – Name of Scene” ect, ect.
But its as if the clips inside those bins are getting lost due to the naming column being organized alphabetically.
Its not as if these missing clips get dropped somewhere else, they disappear, i cant find them in the inspector at all.
Ive tried labelling the reel no’s for the clips in relation to the scene their from and then organizing the “reel” column numerically but it does the same thing, only half my clips are showing up inside those bins.
What the hell??
Whats the easiest way to haveall my bins in order, and all my clips inside those bins in order from a – z?
Any help would be much appreciated,

Hmmm,
restarted the program and now the clips are all there.
Thats weird, its things like this that make me nervous about choosing this software to work with, considering im just embarking on a feature film project…
Anyone had a similar issue?

It’s an old, old bug that comes up intermittently. If you open the bin into its own window you’lll see all the clips. It also doesn’t happen when you use a second monitor. It happens pretty rarely to me, which is probably why it’s so hard to track down.
