May 24, 2007 at 4:07 pmWith all due respect guys there is a bit of thread jacking going on here. There are several people looking for answers to specific issues with COMPRESSOR # inthe new release of FCS 2.
You can post a new question if you want to find out how to make compressor work best on your system.

May 26, 2007 at 10:26 amThe solution is simple.
Open System Prefs / Apple Qmaster
If Sharing is on click stop sharing.
Select “Share this computer as: Quickcluster with services”
Start sharing.
Now it should work. At least it did for me.
Good luck.

June 7, 2007 at 10:48 pmThis is a part of a major legacy issue… I’m having the same problem – when I try switching to Quickcluster with Services I get a “qmasterd not running” error message.
I had this issue in Compressor 2 and the workaround was to open Terminal and type “sudo /Library/StartupItems/Qmaster/Qmaster” then my password, then “exit.” Magically, “this computer” would appear in the cluster config dropdown the next time I opened compressor and I could use everything normally until the next restart.
I’m about to call Apple and see if my 90 day tech support is of any use.

June 7, 2007 at 11:26 pmUPDATE –
Deleting everything having to do with QMaster and QAdministrator (by searching these terms in Spotlight) and then reinstalling from the separate “extras” QMaster installer on the FCPS2 install disk – and THEN assigning the computer as a quickcluster in the control panel – made compressor work.
