I am finishing a music video shot on DVCPro HD and wanted to use After Effects for all my color correcting and rendering needs because it can render to 16 bit. I cut the video in FCP, but i rather not use it for my color correcting.
I need to isolate a small range of colors for correcting. Specifically, I need to remove the blue cast of an improperly balanced light. In FCP, I can use the 3 way color corrector, utilizing the “limit effect” options. i’d rather keep all my rendering work in 16 bit AE. is there any analogous effect/tool ihn AE to limit an effects range?
I’ve tried manipulating the Color Range of the Hue/Saturation effect, but I am not too happy with the results. Is there a more refined, more precise way i can isolate these colors? The light was a soft, very diffuse LED that left some awful looking blue on the talent’s faces.
Am I making my life harder than it has to be by not using FCP for these shots?
