    Hi there,

I have 3 layers. A topo layaer, an alpha layer of the orange blob and the color pass of the blob.

I am trying to localize opacity changes to the topo layer so the orange blob shows through the surface slightly so it seems underground.

I rendered an aplha layer of the blob , hoping to be able to figure out the ensuing puzzle.

    any ideas

It may seem a bit noob, but I’ma a semi-noob noob.

Is there a reason you can’t put masks on the topo layer and have the orange blob below that?

    yeah thats what I’m trying,

but I need the mask to be the same shape as the blob, eg use the alpha pass as a mask?

Why not use the alpha either as a Track Matte or Channel > Set Matte on your blob layer?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,

I’ve played with track mattes before, just took some “jiggery pokery” as my employer says when ever I mention technicalities.

    ta for the input.
