    Hi all,

Hopefully this is an easy answer, and I’ve also posted this in the Soundtrack Forum but so far no answer. Please help:

In my documentary film I have single clips dropped into the FCP timeline, pulled from (of course) an entire transferred tape in the bin. However, when I highlight the audio clip that I want to sent to Sountrack for processing, it transfers the entire audio from the tape into ST, which makes for wasted time and additional difficulty.

So for instance, let’s just say I have marked a 5-second moment from Tape #4 and it is part of my 5 minute sequence, built up from many clips over many tapes, right? But, that 5-second moment has a background hum that I want to remove through ST so I highlight the audio, right click and “Send to… Soundtrack Audio File”. It then opens in ST but instead of just that 5-second portion, the entire audio from the tape is imported. So now when I do the Analysis thing in ST, it’s analyzing the entire tape, not just my 5-second portion.

What do I need to do for the clips in my sequence back in FCP to make them independent from all the other footage from their respective master clips so that shuffling them in and out of ST doesn’t pull in the whole audio from the entire clip?

I hope this is more or less clear with respect to my question. Your input is greatly appreciated!

    Carlos
