Is this the appropriate workflow?
Im currently pulling short 3-4 second clips from multiple 10 minute sources in PP, and replacing them with AE Compositions via Dynamic Link to apply custom masks.
Issues with the consistency of Dynamic Link aside, is this an appropriate workflow? Each time I replace with an AE comp, the entire clip source appears in my project window, to the point where I have dozens of the exact same ~1GB source representing each clip/comp.
Is After Effects supposed to import the entire uncut clip each time? If so, would I be better off creating my clips from a single source in AE and then importing into PP?
I hope my question is clear, I’m running Premiere Pro CC 2015 and After Effects CC 2015.

When you say Project Panel…I assume you mean in After Effects?
If so….I doubt this is a problem…
as long as the comps themseleves only refer tot he frames of the source you want to process. (how you have the clips trimmed in PPro).
Sending individual shots to AE would be correct. AE doesn’t have any logic to understand how the shots themselves relate to each other.
I’d think you should be fine.
