Set top DVD player with HDMI output -> Intensity -> FCP 5.1

I need to capture some footage from an already burned DVD (don’t worry I’m not pirating commercial DVDs) onto Final Cut. I have Decklink SP installed in my Mac Pro…will it have a negative effect? Please advise.

Depends the video format, check the website which formats (SD, HD, frame rates) are supported.

HDCP copy protected content won’t work with Intensity.

The format is just standard SD, 4×3, 29.97. Basically, it’s just home videos I edited a while back that I need some footage from.

You might want to try this freeware. I’ve used it a couple of times, and It works quite well.

    Hi,

As long as your DVD player outputs the HDMI signal with the HDCP flag disabled, then Intensity should be able to capture from your DVD player. Having said that, it would be vastly preferable that you worked with the original video clips as the video on your DVD has been squished in to the MPEG format and this will show when you edit with material captured from your DVD player. However if the DVD is the only media that you have, then it will have to do.

    Hi,

I have created a DVD player in combination with decklink.
