I’d like to know if it’s possible to write a script that searched video clips for a specific occurance of a “black box” for example?

Here’s my problem…I have a large recorded avi which has many occurances where an annoying black box show up with the message “buffering content” (for various lengths of time).

Rather than using a script look for the audio silence gaps, I’d rather look through each frame of video for the black box message. The reason is, I don’t want to clip areas where the silence is warranted. Only the case where the silence is due to the bufffering.

I’m sure this is a tough one, but any thoughts on the matter would be very appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Can I just confirm that the black box message to which you refer is something outside of vegas. E.G. the actual media itself has these areas?

The only way I think to script this would be to run through each frame of the video – take a snapshot and then compare it to an image you already had – that would be one idea – which would of course take a HUGE amount of time – but is at least doable.

Ideally you’d actually do this in C++ so you could process the frames on the fly – but that’s a fair amount of work.
