    Hi,
I am looking to edit a feature length film shot on a Canon XH-A1 in 30i HDV and would like to purchase a new system to edit it on. I saw on the Adobe site that they have certified the HP xw4600 to use and I wondered if this was a good option for $1699. I will be using Premiere Pro 2.0 or maybe CD3 and I think Aspect HD.

I also have an external hard drive. I’d also need to install a firewire card and could also purchase an additional internal hard drive to install. I’ve also heard that the Dell T5400 is an option. I’m not sure which is better for the money.

The last movie I shot I was able to edit on my home computer since it was DV. i’ve done a lot of research but am still not quite sure of the exact specifications that I should be looking for. I want to buy what’s easiest (I’m not sure about custom configurations) as well as a good value for the money. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Stacey

I think that is too pricy myself. I built my own with similar setup with 1/2 the price. I think upgrading to CS3 is probably a good idea also.

Thanks. Building my own isn’t really an option. I’d basically like to know if the computer I mention would be good enough to edit HDV with Premiere.

I think it is pretty decent.

More than good enough. Definitely upgrade to CS3.

I would definitely consider buying Cineform though, it REALLY makes things fly with HDV and Adobe apps.
