July 25, 2012 at 7:01 pmWhen you post an ad for FCPX, seeing who references the correct program in their response email is a pretty good way to screen the applicant. An FCPX person will specifically mention it in their response. A legacy person will say they’re experts at Final Cut Pro, which means you’d have to train them and deal with Crying Editor Syndrome (CES).
CES is a real disease. Symptoms include inability to learn new things, difficulty reading words written on a wall, and obsessive visits to this forum.

July 25, 2012 at 8:21 pmWe’re a small production company and we’ve switched from legacy to X and have been hiring two different freelance editors for various projects. In addition to ramping up on X, they know legacy and PPro. So, another data point.

Not to be confused with CES (Cranky Editor Syndrome). Symptoms include tremendous will power to hold back installing updates despite improved “functionality”, the customer is always wrongisms, infrequent but poignant Facebook outbursts to software “engineers”, and obsessive trips to the soda jerk.
CES is one thing, but CES is a whole ‘nother ball o’ wax.

July 25, 2012 at 10:13 pmNot only Craig’s List but also “creative editor.” In my experience that is a phrase of which you need to be aware.
