  • Is there something like FCP Control-U to reset AVID layout?

I am returning to AVID after a 13 year absence. I am looking for a way to tidy my layout.
Something like Windows>reset current workspace in Premiere or Control U in FCP.

When I start a project the windows are all over the place. When I see a tutorial everything is organized. What’s the secret?

Windows>Workspaces>Source/Record editing. That’s the default. Then adjust to your liking, and save it as NEW WORKSPACE, give it a custom name. So if things get messed up again, go to this menu and choose that setting and it’ll go back to your last saved setup.

Shane’s advice is correct. Also note that once your workspace is saved, you can assign it to a keyboard shortcut. My F5/F6/F7 keys are assigned to the best Source/Record layout I use in three different edit rooms with different resolution monitors. These keys come in handy every day all day.
