export clips (w/1 sec. pre/post roll) from the timeline as self contained QT movies w/o having to do each one individually?

    here’s my situation:

footage captured as whole clips (1 tape = 1 clip)

Sequence has been edited and now I need to apply the smoothcam filter on a lot of the clips. However, as we all know and love.. FCP applies this filter to the ENTIRE piece of footage… not just the clip selected in the timeline. MAJOR PITA!!! So I’d love to just do a batch export.. then choose the clips from that selection to apply filter to.

And if there’s not a way… one of you geniuses needs to make an app that will do this. I’d pay GOOD MONEY FOR IT!!!

The only way to allow Smoothcam Filter to analyze just the clips that you need is to make reference or self-contained movies for the clips that need it.

As both a shooter and editor, I would recomend shooting steadier footage and you won’t need to use Smoothcam on a lot of your clips.

As an editor, if someone handed me a tape with lots of shaky footage, I would charge A LOT OF MONEY if I had to fix it.

Have you tried media manager? From the way I understand the question this should be pretty straight forward.

Select your sequence and go to File > Media Manager. Set the drop down to recompress and delete unused media with the handle of your choice.

Now I could be wrong that this will shorten your quicktimes, but give this a try.
