Is there any easy way?
Posted by Lokidrummer on December 31, 2005 at 11:31 pmHi, is there any easy way of creating light rays, also known as edge rays without having to buy some expensive plugin. So is this possible to do within FCP. And no, unfortunatly i don’t have motion cause my processor is to slow 🙁 Also what other free effects and transitions are out there? Thanks!

December 31, 2005 at 11:38 pmSorry. Nothing beats Trapcode Shine for this. It’s well worth the money and you’ll pay off the plug-in with one gig. $99 is not a lot of money for someone in the business of making videos.

December 31, 2005 at 11:55 pmK, thanks…I’ll look into these, it’s just that when i had Sony Vegas 6 on my pc it had alot of the more simple effects and transitions that FCP dosn’t have…so i’m just getting used to dealing with it 🙂 Thanks

January 1, 2006 at 1:03 amShine works best in AE. MOST of it works in FCP, but the 3D stuff is only available in AE. So if you need to put some rays behind a title or an image, it will work in FCP.
Sure is nice to have a separate compositing app for some stuff. I believe you can use the same plug in in both applications.

January 1, 2006 at 4:49 amK, the “shine” demo one works well in FCP…slow, but it works! So what other options like this do I have….i mean like after effects plug-ins working inside FCP? Thanks and happy new years!

January 1, 2006 at 2:43 pmNothing beats Sapphire for edge rays. Expensive maybe, but you get the same maths that gets used on Flame, Shake etc.
