  • Is there an easy way to add transitions to multiple photos on a timeline?

Over the years, I’ve become the go to guy in the family when it comes to video editing.

This means after every event, family members send me all of their out of focus video clips from cell phones, camcorders and whatnot and I get to waste my day off trying to throw sumthin together for them (yay!!)

Anyways, my latest request is to put together a montage of photos from a BBQ I wasn’t even invited to.

There are about 500+ photos and I want to add simple transitions for each, but don’t wanna sit there splicing all of them.

Is there a simple way to go about doing this quickly?

Question, would you like to use the transitions between photos at the same time or some of them at different time? Would like to know how you wish to put them all together? I would say also to make a college of many of these photos in a seperate application like Photoshop or even MSPaint and then put them as a collage already made in Sony vegas afterwards so you can transition many photos between each other at the same time. Would like more info on this tho. Hope to hear from you soon.

If you’re running Vegas Pro 17 or later you should be able to use the Slideshow feature.

Either right click in your timeline and click “Insert Slideshow…” or click on Insert -> Slideshow at the top of Vegas. It’ll open up a new window where you can click on the folder icon to add pictures, sort them how you want (either with buttons at the top or click and drag) and you can also rotate them, just select the image first.
Then if you go to settings you can set the duration of each picture or total length + select a transition effect.

Vegas Pro 15, don’t see an option for slideshow.

I just dumped about a hundred or so photos onto a timeline and about start splicing and adding transitions in between (ugh)
