Is there a way to take work form premiere.. bring it into after effects and vice versa?

There are two ways (other than rendering a video file, I mean) to go from Premiere Pro to After Effects. Each with its’ unique set of advantages.

Premiere Pro project import
Quite simply, this means that you can open a Premiere Project from After Effects, and the Premiere Pro sequences (ie, timelines) are translated to After Effects Compositions, in such a way that edited PPro clips become layers in AE. Also, an expanding list of features (spatial transformation with keyframes, audio levels with keyframes, speed changes and many effects) are also translated to After Effects equivalents. Premiere Pro effects which are compatible with After Effects are marked with an icon in Premiere’s Effects Control Panel.

The drawback (or better, “the nature”) of this method is that the resulting AE project is not in sync with the original Premiere Pro project. In other words, once you import the PPro project into AE, changes you make in the PPro project won’t be automatically updated in AE. Note that in many workflows, you go to AE only when the proper narrative editing stage is done.

Note that you can also copy and paste Premiere Pro clips into an After Effects Composition. With all the advantages mentioned above, in terms of feature translation.

Dynamic Link
Only available in the Production Premium and Master Collection suites.
It means that you can import (or just drag and drop) a whole PPro sequence to AE or viceversa. And that any changes you perform in the one application are immediately updated in the other.
In this case, you don’t get a timeline with clips, but a single element. This is enormously useful when, for example, you want to add motion graphics to a Premiere Pro project. This bypasses the need for intermediate rendering when going from one application to the other. You just drag the Compositions from AE and use them as clips. If you modify anything in AE, it gets immediately updated in the PPro timeline.

Hey. I have a Master Collection. How would i do the dynamic link. How would i take a sequence from Premiere and bring it into after effects and edit it there and have the sequence be edited in both after effects and premiere…

for example.. i want to edit a film in premiere.. now i want to add effects to it in after effects.. then all changes done in after effects occur in premiere… now.. all i do is export from premiere…

how would i do this? THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Actually I found out how to swicth sequences to and from after effects and premiere.. howver.. how can it be like.. i have a sequence mad in premiere.. and i drag it to after effects.. and make an explosion.. and then i go back to premiere.. and the sequence is stioll the way it was before and not motified,..

Dynamic Link is currently one way only.
If you take a PPro sequence to AE, for example, any changes you make in PPro will be updated immediately in AE. But the sequence in PPro won’t be linked to what you do in AE.

In the case you mention, you may want to use the Premiere Pro project import feature (this is different from Dynamic Link(, so that all edits you made in Premiere are translated to AE layers. Then you can use Dynamic Link from AE to Premiere, if you want.

hmm… a little confused.. so wait.. like.. when i drag a sequence from premiere into after effects it comes with all the layers… like premiere… should i just edit the sequence.. then simply.. jus.. like.. redrag it back to ppro… ? i’m sorry, Just a tad confused..

If you import a Premiere project into AE you will see what it does. Try it.
It comes in with each cut a separate layer. It is absolutely wonderful and one of many reasons why I choose Adobe for all my video work.

The simplest way to get your work out of AE and into Premiere is to render your project out of AE using the Quicktime animation codec or some similar lossless format. Then just bring that video file into Premiere.

I’ve tried exporting out of after effects.. and it’s horrible.. i’ve tried a lot of rendering options.. and none of them seem to be able to compare to exporting the way i do in premiere… which is in 720P 25fps mov…
