Is there a way to stop warp stabilizer but keep the framing?

Well, I guess a better way to ask it is, is there a way to either:

A. easily match up the framing and rotation of a non-warp stabilized clip so there’s no visible transition.

B. Tell warp stabilizer to ignore the sections that are causing it to have a seizure.

I think I would just split the clip “where it just goes crazy” and stabilize the un-crazy clip. You may need to manually move one of the clips so that the beginning/end match up correctly.

Yeah, either make another comp and drag the clip in it and shorten it to where you want to do the effect, or cut it up in PP and toss it in AE.

I also wish there were such a feature, something like “Keep the warp/scale settings HERE for n seconds of the clip….”

One thing I do to get frames to line up (as best I can) is to work a while in “Difference” mode for the transparency setting for the “top” layer. I got the idea from stop-motion software. It helps you see what has changed between two frames.

Unfortunately, No. it’s an automatic tool for better and for worse. you have other methods of stabilizing which are controlled by keyframes like Stabilze Motion (which will use conventional 2d Tracking) or you could use Mocha. there is a tutorial here that offers a workaround for converting WS to keyframes. you can try it:

this is incorrect. warp stabilizer will only stabilize between the in and out points of your clip. all you have to do is trim it. this won’t help much if it’s the same shot because there will be a jump that is impossible to fix.
