  • Is there a way to separate audio from a video file?

I feel like this super simple, but I’ve been looking online for a half hour and can’t find a solution.

I’m using AE CS6. I’m trying to cut a video clip, while keeping the audio on that clip going. I saw a video of someone extracting an audio clip using the preview window, but I can’t find the button in AE6.

My current work around is to set the opacity of the clip to zero using Hold Keyframe, but there’s gotta be a better way.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me nuts.

    Thanks!!

Just duplicate the clip, turn off the opacity(use the eyeball) and you now one clip for your audio. On the clip you are going to cut, turn off the audio(speaker) and that’s your video clip.

Otherwise, you could just drag the file into audition and save out a .wav file that’s separate from your video clip.

    That makes sense. Thanks.
