    Hi

I’m wondering something. I’ve got a stack of effects applied to a layer; is there any way to save that “stack” of effects other than just copying and pasting?

Yup. Save it as a preset. Just have the layer in question selected, then go to Animation > Save Animation Preset.

    Voila.

Well, I tried this, but with the layer in question selected, when I go to the Animation menu to select “save as animation preset”, it’s still greyed out. Any thoughts?

Select the effects, not the layer.

also, see the online help system for saving as effects presets. It’s all there.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Yeah, my apologies on that one. =)
