I noticed in another NLE (FCP or Avid), that when you’re in the equivalent to the Explorer or Project Media window you can simply drag the playhead, or click to play, a thumbnail, instead of having to open it in the Trimmer window.

Is there a way to do that within Vegas?

I don’t see one. Double clicking inserts it in a new track on the timeline.

VP13 has Play Preview button in Explorer and Project Media windows.

    I guess I didn’t make myself clear.

I’d like something like FCP or Avid where you’re actually viewing the thumbnail play. Not in Trimmer. Not in Video Preview. ONLY the thumbnail is playing.

    Anything like that in Vegas?

The term for it is called “skimming” and FCP X has an awesome implementation of this. It works on the timeline as well. Very cool, I use it all the time.

No, but Sony Catalyst Edit does so you’re in luck when you move to that.
