Is there a way to make the playhead scroll so that it will be easier to keep track of which clip is actually being played? Everytime I playback a project I will see two or three clips that needs to be corrected in some way but FCPX playhead is not scrolling which makes it difficult to select the clip (while it is playing back) and view the inspector’s parameters for that clip. Hopefully there’s a way to do this. Thanks.

Nope – the timeline doesn’t scroll. Feel free to send a feature request to Apple 🙂

I bet there have been a million “feature-requests” for this since FCP 3…. .-)

If you open the timeline index, it shows which clip is being played.

I just use the hand tool to move around the timeline during playback. That way I can go back and and adjust audio on a clip or go forward and adjust color, etc., during playback.

It doesn’t seem to be working properly. My project consist of video, audio, and title clips and it works ok but when I filter the timeline index to only display video clips then it does not work.

I have an Apple Trackpad attached, that I use just for scrolling… and yes add it to the feature request…
