  • Is there a way to have a panel for basic transform information?

Posted by Luke Mosse on January 7, 2020 at 3:16 pm

    Hi

I’m interested in having a panel which will always show the basic transform information for any selected individual layer – similar to the ‘effects’ panel which shows you the effects parameters on a single layer.

Is there a way to do this?

It would save an awful lot of keyboard shortcuts and mouse clicks, opening up the relevant controls for each layer when I just want to adjust basic things like position and scale and have to wait for each shortcut to take effect.

If anybody has any ideas please let me know!

    Thanks!

    Hey Luke,

If you’re setting up a large project and really just want to see the information immediately if you click on a layer you could always set up expression control effects on the said layer and parent the transform options to expression controls

(ie. Seperate position coordinates and parent the x and y to a point controller.)

That way you could use your effect palette as a pseudo transform palette.

    Hope this helps.

Simple solution! Learned something new today. Always just used the hotkeys for transforming. Cheers!

Drew, just keep in mind ‘Transform Effect’ does not behave in the same way when parented/collapse transformed. So while it works great in some cases, in some it will fail (especially with positioning/anchor). Other than that, for simple transformations its definitely a good choice.
