Is there a way to have 2 screens of the same video shoot in sony vegas11 to be able to see the original footage and how is changing when applying effects?
I ran across the following tutorial from Newbluefx using Colorfast one of their plug ins. In the tutorial the editor is using avid and it seems that he has the same video footage in 2 screens within the program, one on the left and one on the right. The left screen seems to be how the footage was original recorded and on the right he is applying effects and manipulating the same footage, so he is able to see the before and after changes at real time. This can absolutely be done in Vegas. Look above the preview screen for a button that’s a circle that’s half dark and half light. Click on that button.
Now the default of that button is “Bypass Effects” which means you will not see any effect. Click on the down arrow on the right edge of that button to see the other options. The ones I use most are right and left. That will let you see the effect on half the image and not on the other half. Makes it very easy to compare.
You can also take a snapshot of any other footage on the timeline and then use the “clipboard” option to compare to a totally different clip. Do a search for this in the help file. It really is a powerful feature of Vegas.
