Is there a way to change the default export setting in adobe premier pro cs6?

G’day Ashley,

Export is one terminology = the end process to have a final “export” via Media Encoder to get a single finished video file.

When doing this process the last settings used should be recalled when exporting again. Good Idea to save any customization you make so if you export to another setting you can recall it back.

You can also make a preset folder in Media Encoder and just drag it on to the sequence before exporting.

Render (for Preview in PPro) = the process whereby you want to watch back, AKA preview, effects heavy clip/s in the timeline to get realtime playback. The render format for preview is by default set to MPEG-2, but it can be changed in the Sequecnce Settings to a multitude of formats such as Uncompressed or P2, etc… ProRes on Mac if installed.

If you want to make your own custom preset sequence to have a specific preview render format from the start of an edit then you can create a custom sequence at the New Sequence settings Tabs, just set it up across the tabs at that point and save preset. It will then live in the Preset list under custom.

The Render Preview process when using a high end system is almost never required. The FCP approach of rendering as you work is unnecessary for final export and wastes much time.

Once editors actually play the timeline (even when the timeline is red) and see the performance is fine the time it would take to render is left by the wayside and turn around times are decreased = faster out the door.

Well I meant export is there anyway to set a default so I can just edit and export it right away instead of having to select it each time.

Yes, and it seems to reset more than it did in the previous version (I believe it would reset with each new project file in CS5-5.5 and now it resets with every new sequence). From what I can tell, there’s no way to set a default, and I hope Adobe switches back to the previous way of only resetting for new projects (at the very least).

I do think the ability to select a default export option would be ideal though.

While it DOES remember last setting within a project, it does not seem to be able to set a global custom default export setting which is what the OP is asking for. i really wish it could, i do video after video for youtube that are new projects but need the same settings.

not to hijack this but another feature that would be lovely would also be the ability to have a template project. not just the settings saved, but the video and audio track counts/type along with video inserted like reoccuring intros that happen everytime. i have to rebuild the intro for the videos everytime as well [unless someone knows how to do this as well]

Mine does this as well. Every time I go to Export a movie, it defaults back to AVI. When I select say MPG2 DVD, it select the first option instead of the Custom one I setup and primarily use.

Finally, the Export window itself always resizes itself to a default size, a window approximately 800 x 600 pixels big. You can’t even see all the codec options in the lower right without either scrolling or resizing the window. And I have to do it every. damn. time.

This is new and annoying behavior in CS6.

Hi Folks: I know this is an old thread, but I’m trying to solve the same problem with a Premiere CS6 new project defaulting to AVI for our small station’s news department. The last post I saw was 2013 and I still have not seen any answer to the problem from that thread (or other forums, etc on the net). With novice news people having to edit their files at the last minute, they often forget to check the settings and our on air playback will not handle AVI.(Yeah, I know about deadlines & double checks, but we’re a small market station where people get their start). I’m sure many of you have moved on to upgraded version, we don’t have that option at the moment. Again, did any of you find a workaround or solution to keep Premiere CS6 from automatically defaulting to an AVI files – we need it to default to MPEG 2. THANKS!

I’m a daily news editor, working on CC 2015. I’d love to be able to set default export settings as well. This was a nice feature on FCP that sped up my workflow … really a necessity since I’m exporting dozens of clips every day. Am I missing it or is this still not supported?
