Is there a single frame capture setting on the dvx100a??
Posted by Jeremy Markowitz on October 15, 2005 at 7:56 pmIs there a single frame capture setting on the dvx100a?? I remember reading in some online review (that i cant find now) that the 100a had the ability to capture several frames at a time automatically, for eaiser stop motion. Does this feature really exist, and if so can it be operated from the included remote? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

October 15, 2005 at 10:20 pmYes, it’s in a menu called INTERVAL REC — set it to ONE-SHOT and it will record a burst of frames and then stop. Every time you press the remote control it will capture another burst of frames. There’s a menu item called REC TIME that specifies how long each burst lasts.
One note: INTERVAL REC won’t work in 24P mode, you have to be in 30P (or 60i) for it to work.

October 16, 2005 at 6:40 pmWhat is the least amount of frames that can be captured? I ask because i ussauly do stop motion at 15 or 30 fps (frames per second) So the camera needs to be able to capture single frames at a time.

October 16, 2005 at 11:25 pmYou can do that with this software package, while your camera is attachd to the computer.
The DVX does not record one frame at a time.

so does this mean that it is NOT possibile to take a “snapshot” or a “digital still” with dvx100ap? I haven’t found anything in the manual

October 17, 2005 at 3:56 amUnlike the PD 150 which offered a “memory stick to record progressive still images to, the DVX100 does not do this.
You can capture a hlaf second. digitize and export it though.

The minimum is 1/2 second, so 15 frames.
No big deal though; just import it into your NLE and tell it to play back at 15x realtime speed; you’ll get exactly one frame per “burst”.
