  • is there a QUICK way to generate timecode?

Posted by Tom Adams on October 20, 2010 at 5:27 pm

    Hi folks,

wondering if there are any new timecode generator plugins out there. I have a 3hr sequence that I’d like to play direct out from timeline to burn on an external dvd player/recorder. I tried andy’s timecode generator in the hopes that I wouldnt have a 4 hour render (like i did using the native fcp generator)…but nope, the ole red-line of despair still appears at the top of my timeline when using andy’s…

is there anyway to make this timecode appear on a 3hr video and not take 5 hours to render?

    thanks

    Regards,

If you are playing back with a Kona to the DVD player, it can do that…

My card is the card that came with my 2009 MacPro (not sure what\’s in there)… but, yes, that must be my limiting factor…

    [Tom Adams] “compressor no help”

Google Quick Cluster Compressor. Setting this up will speed up your encoding with Compressor (faster than realtime in many scenarios).

Just to clarify also, you need to add the timecode filter in Compressor, not in FCP. I wasn’t sure if that was clear in the suggestions being made earlier.

    All the best,
    Alex
