I know my company is using an ancient version of MC (MC 2.6.4), which I’m curious if they’ve fixed in newer versions of MC or not (let me know), BUT I am completely baffled that this process ever had to be soooooo tedious in the first place – it seems like a simple software fix.

I tried to do a search, but it seems really tricky to come up with the right query…

We do multicamera sessions a lot, and now they’ve added backup audio tracks, so this has added so much time to just creating a multigroup that it’s ridiculous! It’ll take 2-3 full shifts now just for 1 day of shooting which could be at least a few hours shorter if there were a plugin that could (after sync’ing the cameras of course) place all the match frame edits automatically AND do all the subclipping as well.

Does anyone know of a plugin for this? And has this actually been fixed in newer versions of MC? I’m getting my hopes up for a much needed upgrade that our company may be doing soon, but wondering if it’s all for naught.

    Thanks guys!

I dont know about a plug in. Ive certainally never seen one, but with AVID MC5 its basically the same as youre doing no, but can handle up to 9 screens. So no big revolution Im aware of.

Funny. I never feel that syncing the cameras is much of a hassle. I suppose it depends on excatly how many cameras and how long the reels are. My seqs are usually 4 cams for 1 hour so not too much.

I do find that spreading the clips across different drives helps massively with the playback smoothness in multiclip. I think its a bandwidth thing – especially with HD footage.
