Is there a modifier key to slide a clip from track to track?
I have been experimenting with modifier keys when moving clips around on the timeline. I know that option drag duplicates the clip, and command drag will insert edit clips onto the timeline.
What I am trying to figure out, however is how to move a clip or a series of clips from one track to another without them shifting left or right on the timeline. In FCP 7 this modifier key was SHIFT, and it enabled you to quickly move clips up and down on the timeline without losing it’s place in time.
Any suggestions?

This is not currently a feature, but it was requested so much from FCP7 users that it will be included in the new version of Premiere Pro: https://www.retooled.net/?p=846
