August 12, 2007 at 1:57 pmI guess you don’t like time remapping in FCP.
All the best,

August 12, 2007 at 2:00 pmHi Tom,
speaking for all: we like it clean and simple. Creating a good smooth speedramp in final cut with the graph is time consuming. Do you have a simple nice idea?

August 12, 2007 at 2:46 pmIf you are looking for a third part plug-in, RE:Vision Effects Twixtor is what you are looking for.
Once you get the hang of timeremapping inside FCP, it’s very simple to use.

August 12, 2007 at 3:26 pmTwixtor is great, but complicated to use once you exceed original length.
Motion 3 has similar features.

August 12, 2007 at 3:48 pmDo yourself a favour and don’t do it. Speed ramping is becoming the visual cliche of the era.

August 12, 2007 at 4:03 pmPeter has a point, OT perhaps, but a good one. I got REALLY tired of all the speed effects VS. did on the Tour de France, too much.
I prefer to do this in AE with time remapping, and revisioneffects FieldsKit is a great companion on this. It will turn your fields into frames giving you twice the info to work with. There are other ways to do this, but FieldsKit does a super job.

August 12, 2007 at 4:51 pmVs – Versus???
We had a ban on using speed ramps on this years TdF on ITV as it just looks amateur and trying too hard in my opinion.
However, somebody made a closer in the OB truck that used them on nearly every shot.
You can imagine the screams back in London of “what?” when we saw it go out.I have seriously considered setting up ‘badeditting.com’ Number one on the name & shame board would be Cribs – I cannot watch it

August 12, 2007 at 5:10 pmHey Peter,
Yeah, Versus, whatever. Almost EVERY shot in their bumpers/promos had a ramp in it. It sucked.

August 12, 2007 at 9:11 pmTimewarping in Final Cut Pro is pretty easy to use but the results are hit or miss depending on the source footage. Twixtor is the gold standard but is a pretty pricey plugin.
