Is there a generation loss when you render to uncompressed?
If I’m working in a timeline that’s set to DV-NTSC, and I have clips that uncompressed, dv-ntsc, and photos (JPEGS). I want to work in in uncompressed, becuase that’s the best quality of all of my assets.
Do I lose a generation of quality when I switch my timeline setting to uncompressed, and then have to render?

It’s not advisable… Have you already edited a finished sequence? If so, duplicate it, then perform a match frame and “replace” edit with your video files. That way the uncompressed won’t have gone thru DV first…

So how would I work with photos in uncompressed from the getgo?

I would be too. That’s some bizarre advice.
I would duplicate your sequence for the heck of it.
But switch it to uncompressed and you should be good to go. The DV will have to be rendered of course, but there shouldn’t be any quality loss or gain. But since it is going through SOME sort of processing there’s always some incredibly miniscule loss. Maybe. Ditto with the jpegs.
Any graphics you add will be benefitted by the uncompressed settings as well.
Now, how do you get this uncompressed sequence out of your computer? Do you have an uncompressed SDI out, etc?

If I were to work with JPEGS alone, would it be worth it to render the timeline to uncompressed, or will that render/processing degrade the images, and outweigh the benefits of the uncompressed timeline?
