Is there a function in Final Cut pro to see a grid or thirds in the canvas or viewer?
Posted by Paul Boone on May 8, 2010 at 9:27 pmAny grid of some sort in Final Cut Pro to make shots straight or something that shows where an exact third is?
Thanks

May 9, 2010 at 1:52 amDigital Heaven, maker of very cool FCP plug-ins, has a couple of freebies, including one or two that will do what you need:

I can’t remember if it’s DH Grid or DH Guides, but one of them (maybe both) will get the job done.
And did I mention they’re free?
Good luck.

April 12, 2015 at 8:51 pmIn case someone still needs a grid to see thirds:
https://www.uhlfilms.com/download-free-rule-of-thirds-overlays-for-fcpxThe grids by Digital Heaven are good for making shots straight and stuff like that, but they do not provide thirds.

March 14, 2018 at 8:38 pmSOLUTION: So I had this exact same problem and developed a pretty clever/easy way to get gridlines lol.
Actually made a youtube video explaining how. Hope this helps! If it does drop a like! Thanks!
