    HI guys,

have been starting to read this forum since a few days only. I am planning to buy a dvx100BE camera (yes, the PAL version) and I would like to hear an openion from experts like you in here. I have done my research and at the moment I believe this is my best choice for a 3CDDs camera which will provide good enough picture without costing me a fortune. I am looking to do some good looking video projects (music and on the road video docs). Will edit in AVID Liquid.
Do you think it is a good choice ? Any other suggestion ?

    Cheers …. CIPO

Sure- not sure as compared to what. As DV cameras go this is about as good as it gets.

    hi

thank you for the reply. Being an amatour and willing to see if I have some inner talent, I was planning to get a better camera (I own an analogue SONY CCD-TRV99E Hi8 which at the time was a great product) and give a more serious try.
I could buy a 1CCD consumer product for few hundreds euro (I am in Europe) but I will not get much better then what I have now, sure DV is better then hi8-DV converter but TRV is really a nice product.
Usually when I invest in such type of equipment i want to get something that will last without splashing in latest top-of-the-shelf products.
I could go for a nice SONY DCR-SR290E (1/3 CCD) for 800euro or a similar model. But I am very tempted to make a quantum leap step (for me) and move directly to the DVX100BE (around 2000euro).
I read so much about it that I start to be convinced it is the best gear in that price level, even compared to some others as Canon LX etc.
I might find myself one day to pursue a new carrer in the filmmaking industry having some experience with a well know equipment or I might forget the whole thing and still be able to resell the DVX 🙂

    Any thoughts ?
    THX for your time.

    Any suggestion ?

I purchased a DVX100 two years ago and have been very pleased with its performance. Having a few years experience in the teleproduction business, I continued to be amazed at the ability of the camera to deliver quality pictures for the price I paid for it.

Given the work I have done with it, it has MORE than paid for itself several times over.

And, it’s a lot of fun to work with given it’s size and framerate flexibility.
