  • Is the 8 Bit Processing on Smart Scope Duo a limitation for Resolve?

Posted by Tobias Heilmann-schuricht on November 9, 2013 at 1:25 pm

    Hi,

I am considering a SmartScope Duo 4K for my Resolve station. I stumbled across the 8 Bit color precision of the device. What does this actually mean in terms of measurement accuracy? Am I seeing the results less accurately when measuring a 10 Bit SDI signal with an 8 Bit device?

Any input here is much appreciated…

    Thank you,
    Tobias

    That is totally fine…
It doesnt have enough lines to show 1024 steps anyway 🙂
If the 256 are taken from your 1024 you are still getting the right ones, distributed across the whole range.

    A slice of color…

Sascha, thank you. So is 8 bit pretty much standard on Scopes and Waveforms?
