Is Sony DVD Architect Pro 6 Fully Compatible with Magix Vegas Pro 16?
Posted by Rich Kutnick on April 26, 2019 at 2:53 amI ask this because even though when I render in Magix Vegas Pro 16 I check to save project markers in rendered video file, in Sony DVD Architect Pro 6 the load markers icon is grayed out! Back in the day when Sony produced both Vegas and DVD Architect, the markers loaded automatically, but in the last Sony versions of both programs I had to manually load the markers once the rendered file was on the DVD Architect timeline. Now that I am editing in Magix Vegas Pro 16, I find that Sony DVD Architect Pro 6 apparently is not “seeing” the chapter markers I have in my rendered Magix Vegas Pro 16 file!
HELP!!!
Thank you in advance.

Hi Rich. Long time since I’ve done this, but after rendering, can you see the Markers file in the same directory as the MPEG2 and AC Files? Also, if you can, checkout the VP Render folder for a successful VP to DVDA render. Do you see the Markers file?

April 26, 2019 at 2:05 pmThanks for pointing this out to me, Grazie!
The folder that contains the rendered .m2v video file also shows that the respective .m2v.sfx and .m2v.sfl files are located there. Do you know which one is the markers file and what the other one is?
The folder to where I am pointing prerendered files to only contains files that I specifically prerendered and there are no files located there with respect to these newly-created .m2v files.
I forgot to mention that I am using proxy files to edit in Vegas Pro 16. Does this put a wrench in the motor??
I STILL am at a loss!! Do you have any further clues on why DVD Architect Pro STILL has the import markers icon grayed out??!!

I’m not aware of that file being good for DVDA? I make MPEG2 files ????

April 26, 2019 at 4:57 pmThis video file type is the default in the MainConcept MPEG-2 template. What other way would you suggest that I render this for Blu-ray? I am at a standstill!!

Eh? You wish to create a Blu-ray in DVDA ? Never done it. Do some searching to find if VP makes Markers for BU.

April 26, 2019 at 7:51 pmI FIGURED IT OUT!! After cruising the web for a while, I came upon an old suggestion on the former vegascreativesoftware.info forum that I followed (and evidently forgot about). While it corrected a markers problem with older versions of Sony Vegas Pro and Sony DVD Architect Pro 6, I guess this change in the internal workings of Sony DVD Architect Pro 6 when used with Magix Vegas Pro 16 now does what it says and works correctly.
Arthur.S wrote on 08/13/2017,
“Hold down the shift/Ctrl keys when you click on preferences. (under options) The internal tab will appear. In the search box type markers. “Media markers in video file” will show as TRUE. Change it to FALSE and it’ll look for them in the audio file instead. Bit of a long story why I needed to do that…..”
So now that I have changed this option back to the TRUE default in Sony DVD Architect Pro 6, my chapter markers now are imported when I place my .m2v file in to Sony DVD Architect Pro 6.
I hope that this may help others such as myself who needed to change this switch a few years ago and now need to change it back to again make it work properly.

April 26, 2019 at 7:53 pmReading the VP-Pro & DVDA manuals suggests that your chapter markers can be written & read.
Vegas Pro14 (ctrl F chapter markers) page 231 gives instructions and implies DVDA imports/uses these markers.
DVDA 5.2 manual Page 82 details how to add chapter markers, from memory these come in from your project files, (m2v)(.ac3) provided you checked the box in the render spec coming out of VP16.Stayed with DVDA5.2. I recall DVDA7 had problems with BD’s/ac3pro
