” is missing – Loosing the link between clips and source files (and my head!)

I have just encountered a problem where once having moved my source files on to another hard drive fcp can’t link to those files. When I open a project that links to those files, fcp says they are offline but also ‘forgets’ what the source file is called. In the item properties of the offending cips of which there is about 100(!!) the ‘source attribute says simply ” is missing. So it has no link to rejoin the clip in fcp back up to the source file.People have had the same problem a few months ago and fixed it by using an earlier saved project file. But I am wondering why fcp does this and if there is a way to fix it by recreating the link (except for manually pointing each individual clip back to the source file)rather than taking steps backwards and using autosave vault file?

I’ve seen the ” thing, but only in reference to a drive. It seems to forget what the drive is called, even when the drive is online, sometimes.
You should be able, though, to point FCP to the new drive and select the first clip on the list (make sure the setting to relink all the clips in a row, or whatever, is checked) and FCP should see the rest.

No the only once manually connecting the file back to the source media does it link up again. And you have to do that for each clip in the browser!Cheers,
